Player of the Week: TAC Cup – Round 9

CALDER Cannons’ overager Jake Riccardi has been voted in as the AFL Draft Central TAC Cup Player of the Week for Round 9. The key forward booted five goals from 10 disposals, taking six marks as the target up forward during the Cannons’ draw with the Gippsland Power a few weeks ago. Most importantly, four of Riccardi’s five goals came at the death – in the final term – to ensure the game did not slip away from the visitors at Morwell Recreation Reserve.

In doing so, the Cannons were able to snatch the draw thanks to Riccardi’s efforts. Riccardi became the second Calder Cannons’ player to receive a Player of the Week nomination, following on from co-captain Mitch Podhajski – also an overager. In the Facebook poll Riccardi recorded 66 per cent of the vote ahead of other nominee, Sandringham Dragons’ Liam Stocker.
