Victorian squads finalised for AFLW U18 Championships

VIC Country and Vic Metro have finalised their squads ahead of next week’s AFL Women’s Under 18 Championships. Both squads have been trimmed to 24 players, with three matches to be played across the week. Both sides will face Western Australia, Queensland and the Central Allies. Matches will be played at Metricon Stadium (Monday, July 9), Broadbeach (Wednesday, July 11) and Bond University (Friday, July 13).

Dandenong Stingrays has the most Country representatives with six, including Country captain Jordyn Allen. GWV Rebels has five, while Geelong Falcons, Gippsland Power and Murray Bushrangers have shared their nominees (four each). Kodi Jacques is the sole Bendigo Pioneer in the team.

For Metro, Eastern Ranges lead the way with seven players in the final squad, ahead of Northern Knights (five), Calder Cannons (four), Sandringham Dragons and Oakleigh Chargers (three) and Western Jets (two). Madison Prespakis will captain the Metro side at the carnival.

Murray Bushrangers coach Sam Ahmet will lead Vic Country, while Eastern Ranges coach Tom Humphrey heads Vic Metro. Jason Armistead (Geelong Falcons) and Natalie Wood (former Darebin player and current Geelong VFL W assistant coach) are the Country assistants, while for Metro, Marcus Abney-Hastings (Northern Knights), Paul Tilley (Calder Cannons) will assist Humphrey.
