Player of the Week: TAC Cup – Round 6

AFTER an inspiring victory in the wet, Calder Cannons’ co-captain Mitch Podhajski has been named as the AFL Draft Central TAC Cup Player of the Week for Round 6. Returning to the side for the Cannons’ crucial clash with Bendigo Pioneers at a rain-soaked RAMS Arena, Podhajski was a clear best on ground across the four quarters, standing up in the first term when very few were able to stay composed in the slippery conditions.

Podhajski had seven disposals, three inside 50s, seven tackles, and was the first goal kicker of the match – slotting a goal in the second minute to get the Cannons up and about in a half which produced just three majors. He put what would arguably be the final nail in the coffin just before three quarter time with his second goal, and by then he had notched up 20 disposals. Fittingly, Podhajski scored the first goal of the last term too, to make it a great all-round performance.

Mitch Podhajski’s statistics:

27 disposals (67 per cent efficiency and 44 per cent contested), seven marks, 15 tackles, three clearances, three inside 50s, one rebound, three goals.

AFL Draft Central’s TAC Cup Player of the Week:

Round One: Bailey Smith (Sandringham Dragons)

Round Two: Max King (Sandringham Dragons)

Round Five: Joel Burleigh (Eastern Ranges)

Round Six: Mitch Podhajski (Calder Cannons)
