SUMMARY: Bailey Schmidt was one of the unlucky Stingrays players to miss out on the TAC Cup Grand Final due to the ridiculous riches of talls that the Stingrays possessed. Throughout the year, particularly during the National Under 18 Championships, Schmidt provided a tall target through the ruck and up forward. He is solid athletically for his size without it being a huge strength, but he is strong overhead and can take a contested mark. One in three marks was contested and he knew when and where to lead when forward, having an impact on the scoreboard. His endurance is poor, registering 19.4 on the yo-yo test at the State Combine, and he averaged just 9.2 disposals per game throughout the year so he is not a huge accumulator, but provides rookie value for a club keen to work with his current abilities and improve the other areas of his game.
