SUMMARY: South Australian wingman and Port Adelaide Next Generation Academy member, Kai Pudney has put himself right into draft contention with a superb year in the SANFL Under 18s competition. His fantastic season was capped off with winning the McCallum-Tomkins medal for the best player in the SANFL U18s and was also a part of the Woodville-West Torrens premiership win, collecting 32 disposals in the narrow five-point grand final victory. Pudney played in two games for South Australia during their dominant U18 Championship winning campaign playing in his natural wing position. In his first game of the championships at home to Vic Country, Pudney topped the disposal count for his side with 21 touches in the highly contested game, his long kicking was a big factor as he had a match high six inside 50s. One of his main strengths is his ability to win the ball so easily, but, it becomes a double-edged sword with his impact per possession underwhelming at times. His massive endurance base will leave a great impression on recruiters as he stunned the South Australian State Combine comfortably winning both Yo-yo and agility tests. Pudney has all the right traits to get on an AFL list, his aerobic capacity is a highlight as is his ability to win the ball on the outside consistently.
