AFTER missing the first nine games with a knee injury, the small midfielder built some decent form leading into finals for the Ranges. He showed he is capable of sanding up in the absence of others with his first three games being 22, 31 and 20 disposals, also collecting a combined 18 clearances and 15 inside 50s in that time. When his Vic Metro teammates returned, Edwards played a more outside role, and his average disposals went down to 14.4 for the remainder of the season. It did not lower his influence in transition, still winning the ball and putting he ball forward, also laying a fair amount of tackles for an outside role. Throughout the season he showed his flexibility in being able to play inside or out, and was a competitive team player with a solid ability across a multitude of areas. He can still build his kicking efficiency (52.3 per cent and 1.5 clangers per game) and his endurance (20.1 on the yo-yo), but has a high work rate. Long-term, Edwards is more suited to an inside role as shown by his games upon first return from injury, which once he builds strength could be a target of his going forward.

STRENGTHS: Balanced accumulator, competitiveness, work rate, inside work
IMPROVEMENTS: Endurance, kicking
